Puppy Whelping and Raising
Wind Wagon Kennels is a small kennel and is dedicated to the meticulous care for each of our females and their litters. When a female is in the whelping process, she will be on the premises to allow her and her litter to receive individual attention.
At five weeks old the puppies are marked with colored collars and observations in regard to their behavior are annotated. As the puppies approach adoption age, we perform puppy profile tests. This allows us to individually rank the puppies in regard to their littermates based on a variety of traits. Puppies are ideally adopted out between seven and nine weeks of age.
In early 2009, Wind Wagon Kennels will open its state of the art kennel facility with separate whelping facilities to provide excellent care for our litters. The kennel is designed to house new litters in a safe, clean and stimulating environment. The socializing process is crucial to a healthy puppy. Our staffing plan is designed to ensure the puppies get the required socialization at the most critical stage. We offer Puppy Headstart for those wanting to ensure there puppies are introduced to all the aspects of being a fine field dog to include water, gun fire and birds.
